In 1995 Mr. Sam Doherty asked my husband to
sit at his desk in his office in Kilchzimmer, Switzerland with his head in his
hand and act out as if he is a children’s worker with problems. This photo was used on the cover of his
book “The problems of a children’s
worker and God’s solution.”

Two weeks ago my husband, who turned 80 last
December, faced a tremendous health problem. We were all shocked to hear the
bad news, but we experience that the God that Dan and I proclaim in our
ministry, is faithful and gives us peace and direction. Dan wrote a letter to our family and friends:
“This letter is just to
bring you up to date with what is happening in our lives. On the 18th of February 2015 after a CT scan
I was diagnosed with aggressive pancreatic cancer.
The bile duct from the
gallbladder was blocked because of the tumor
in the mouth of the pancreas and a stent was inserted into the duct on the 26th
of February, in order to widen th duct and allow the bile to flow again.
I came out of hospital
on Friday the 27th of February and for 2 days I felt very bad. I am regaining my strength slowly.
There
are specific times in one's life when specific Bible truths stand out all the
more clearly. During the last few days many such truths have come
strongly to the fore in my own life – God is Sovereign and in complete control
of my life and I can rest in that blessed assurance; God is faithful to His
promises and will never leave or forsake me and, the trials of life are given
as special times for the believer in Jesus Christ to declare the praises of Him
who has called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2.9)
We
are called to be lights in this world and I ask you to pray with me that ‘this
little light of mine’ will keep shining until the end.
Obviously
the light the believer has is only a reflection of the light that has been
poured out in his life. Paul makes it clear that this is only possible because
of God’s grace and likens it to the miracle of
creation itself in 2 Cor. 4.6: “For God, who said, ‘ Let light shine out of
darkness’, has shone in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the
glory in the face of Jesus Christ”.
David
is facing great trials but his first words in Psalm 27 are triumphant: “ The
Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the
stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?”
In
verse 4 he prays: “one thing I asked of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I
may dwell in the house of the LORD (in the presence of the LORD) all the days
of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.”
My
‘little light’ will keep on shining as I keep my eyes fixed on Jesus, the
Author and Perfecter of our faith.” (Hebrews 12.2)
My
prayer is that my Saviour and Lord will be glorified in my life and death!
Once
again thank you for your love and prayers!
Thank you for the
fellowship in the Gospel we have enjoyed over may years.
Every Blessing
In Christ."

he writes:
The
Results We Can Experience
A s we see God, know Him, focus our thoughts
on Him and worship Him what can we expect to happen in our lives? What does the
Bible teach?
We have
already seen most of the answers, but it will be helpful to summarize them and
revise them. I am not in a position, of course, to make promises or give
precise and absolute guarantees. But I am sure, from what we have already seen
and studied in the Word of God, that there are many blessings which God has
promised to those who know Him, and who then on the basis of that knowledge
obey Him.
This does not necessarily mean “success” and
the instant and immediate solution of the problem(s)—although it might. But it
does mean that God will, more and more, give strength and grace to overcome
failure and to handle problems, as we give Him His rightful place in our lives.
Knowing God Can Help Us in Our Prayer Life
The more we
know about God and the better we know Him, the more we will know to whom we are
speaking, and the more we will be able to trust Him for His answers.
All the
great men and women of the Bible, and the great “prayers” show a clear and deep
knowledge of the One to Whom they were praying.
May God help you with your problems. May you experience God’s grace everyday.
HE GIVETH MORE GRACE – by Annie
Johnson Flint
He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added affliction He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father's full giving is only begun.
His love has no limit, His grace has no measure;
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth and giveth and giveth again.
